Janet V. Janet has regularly spoken on technology, privacy and governance matters, and has frequently made presentations to the board of directors of her clients. She has taught as an adjunct professor of law at Temple University School of Law, and currently teaches a class on Healthcare Data Security, Privacy and Technology at Rutgers University School of Law (Newark and Camden).
In addition, Janet has made a career-long commitment to give back to the community. She has provided decades of pro bono legal services to artists, writers, healthcare organizations, and non-profit organizations through the ProBonoPartnership, Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts and Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Indigent. In addition, she is committed to literacy and accessible education, and as a law professor has endeavored to make her teaching materials available at no cost to her students by using publicly available resources. She participates in the “Buy the Book” Program at Swarthmore College, where she purchases and donates textbooks for students who might otherwise not be able to afford them. Janet has served as a volunteer board member for her local library for years, which has recently updated its strategic plan to expand access of its materials based on community stakeholder input.

She held the position from 1993 to 2001, making her the second-longest serving attorney geral, behind only William Wirt. A member of the Democratic Party, Ro was the first woman to hold that post.
Ro was born and raised in Miami, Florida. After leaving to attd Cornell University and Harvard Law School, she returned to Miami where she started her career at private law firms. Her first foray into governmt was as a staff member for the Judiciary Committee of the Florida House of Represtatives. She th worked for the Dade County State Attorney's Office before returning to private practice. She was elected to the Office of State Attorney five times and was the first woman to serve as a state attorney in Florida. Ro was born in Miami, Florida. Ro's mother, Jane Wallace (née Wood), wrote a weekly home improvemt column for The Miami News under a male pseudonym and later became an investigative reporter for the paper.

In 1943, the Ro family moved to a house in th-rural South Miami; it came with ough land to keep farm animals, including cows, chick, ducks, goats, and turkeys.
The house would be Ro's lifelong home and a source of inspiration; she later said, the house is a symbol to me that you can do anything you really want if it's the right thing to do and you put your mind to it.
The Ros' lot for the house originally was 21 acres, some of which they later sold to pay for the childr's education.
Janet Jackson's Attorney Refires Up Family Feud
After she completed middle school in 1951, Ro's parts st her to stay with her uncle who served as a U.S. military judge in Regsburg, Germany.
In 1956 she rolled at Cornell University, where she majored in chemistry, became presidt of the Wom's Self-Governmt Association, and earned her room and board.
From 1963 to 1971, Ro worked as an attorney for two Miami law firms. In 1971, she joined the staff of the Judiciary Committee of the Florida House of Represtatives.

She worked for the Judiciary Circuit, and left the state attorney's office in 1976 to become a partner in a private law firm, Steel, Hector & Davis.
